Mobile Marketing, an integral part in the new SoMoLo Trend

Vienna, the city of classic music and brilliant composers like Haydn and Mozart. Vienna, a city of vivid and rich history, and nowadays one of the cities with the highest quality of living on the planet, a lively hub located at the heart of the European Union. Yet to me, the city was always just the capital of our southern neighbours in Austria, a country I had only visited for recreation in the decent skiing areas. However, this view changed when I was assigned to be trained in mobile marketing by our new partner IQ Mobile.
Mobile, an integral part in the new SoMoLo Trend and Austria a country of “merely” 8.5 million people? How does this go together?

Trainee’s Diary – Ellen is ready for a holiday
Ich brauche Urlaub! Ganz dringend. Ich weiß, der Satz rutscht einem öfter über die Lippen. Aber dieses Mal meine ich es ernst. Das soll kein Schlag mit dem Betonpfosten sein, Chef. Echt nicht. Auch kein Wink mit der Marmorsäule, liebe Texterschmiede. Ich denke jedoch, dass mein Gemütszustand sehr gut nachvollziehbar ist. Dieses ganze Hin und Her mit dem Wetter: Ich fühle mich wie eine 70-jährige Oma, die versucht, ihren Kreislauf mit Stricken und Kreuzworträtseln am Laufen zu halten. Gerade war noch Hochsommer, jetzt wieder Herbst. Meine kleine arme Texterseele, geschunden von Agenturarbeit und Dialog-Marketing-Unterricht in der Texterschmiede. Gerade haben wir am Montag unsere Longcopy-Klausur geschrieben. Schock! – Denn ich hatte erst ein paar Stunden vor dem Unterricht erfahren, dass die Klausur überhaupt geschrieben wird. Aber auch über solch kleine Nervenzusammenbrüche kommt man hinweg. Ehrlich. Doch es gab in der letzten Woche auch ein paar Streicheleinheiten, denn wir haben unsere Noten für die Print-Hausarbeit zurückbekommen. Meine Arbeitsgruppe und ich dürfen uns jetzt mit einer 1,7 schmücken. Es ist so schön: Gestern stand ich noch am Abgrund. Heute bin ich einen Schritt weiter. Denn es klopft schon die Dialog-Hausarbeit an die Tür.

This is what Finland did yesterday in the ice hockey world championships: we took down Sweden with an amazing 6-1 (and the last 5 goals were all scored in the 3rd period!). Last time we won the world championships sixteen years ago (also against Sweden), so this was a long awaited event.

Hallo, Du da. Ja, genau: DU! Guck doch nicht so. War doch nur nett gemeint. Ich wollte nur mal Hallo sagen. Aber wer nicht will, der hat schon, ne. Hat Mutti früher immer gesagt. Und Mutti hat immer recht. Jetzt guckst Du grad ungläubig, wetten? Aber, wenn Du so überlegst, weißt du einfach, dass ich recht habe. Schließlich werde ich auch irgendwann mal für irgendwen eine Mutti sein. Und ich bin schon fleißig am Üben – Nicht mit dem Mutti werden, aber mit dem recht haben! Mensch, was Du wieder denkst… Aber vielleicht kann ich Dich ja mit den Weisheiten meines jungen Lebens beeindrucken? Und die kann ich sogar auf Englisch. Damit YOU over there – exactly YOU – also understand what I’m talking about.
